COLLECTION LAWYER vs. COLLECTION AGENCY?
1. "We don't just talk, we sue." Collection agencies can't bring a court action on your behalf; only an
attorney can. In fact, many collection agencies send files to attorneys after
the agency's collection efforts fail. Why not place your accounts directly
with us at the outset and avoid an unnecessary time lag?
2. Because we sue, and have the power to use the courts to enforce judgments
through executions by court officers, we generally have more leverage in
negotiating settlements on your behalf.
3. Communications from an attorney's office generally have more urgency
to the debtor.
4. No up-front fees, non-contingent "suit fees," or membership fees. Only
actual out-of-pocket expenses for court filing, service of papers and related
costs are charged, plus a percentage fee, contingent upon recovery of funds
for you.
5. We run debtor payments through a trust account (under the requirement
of the Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys), not a general operating
account.
6. Don't be hooked by misleading claims of success by my competitors. If they collect only $100 on a $10,000 account, it should NOT count as a success. Be an educated consumer - understand that the collection percentage of dollars placed is a more accurate measure of success than the collection percentage of accounts placed. That's why attorneys cannot ethically quote success statistics. I will gladly furnish references upon request.
